Cherry
*The next day*
I sat next to Myung as she nursed her little baby boy – Logan. He really was a cute baby – he had his mother’s eyes and his father’s nose. He had quite a bit of black hair that was messy but soft. He was a chubby baby, making his cheeks quite pinchable. I had to resist the urge to do that.
‘I still can’t believe he’s finally here. We’ve been waiting for him for such a long time,’ Myung said as she looked at me. Her voice was so soft and full of emotion as she talked.
‘I can only imagine Myung. I still don’t understand why you want me to be the godmother though. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate it a lot, but I’m hardly a role model or someone capable of taking care of a child,’ I said.
‘You’re someone who chose to be hunted in order to save lives Cherry. That speaks volume about the type of person you are. You’re too hard on yourself and maybe you refuse to believe it, but I do. You’re a good person and you’re someone I would want my son to look up to,’ she said.
‘It scares me a bit that I could wrong him,’ I admitted and she laughed.
‘You won’t. Besides, there’s also the issue that you’ve saved our lives plenty of times now,’ she said with a wink. Before we could continue talking, we heard two shots fired right outside. ‘What the hell was that?’ Myung asked, her eyes going wide as she sat up and brought Logan closer to her.
‘I’m not sure,’ I said as I stood up and removed my sword from my sheath. I could hear fighting happening outside as more shots were fired. ‘*,’ I said as I took the small dagger from my boots. I took stance just as the door opened and two guys came rushing in.
‘Get the baby!’ One of them ordered as he raised his gun at me.
‘Oh no you don’t,’ I said as I threw the dagger at him, hitting him right in the chest. The other turned his gun at me as he pulled the trigger.
‘CHERRY!’ I heard Myung scream as I ducked in time. I slid from beneath the bed and came up from behind him as I took my sword and slit across his throat, sending him to the ground as he choked on his own blood.
Two more rushed into the room as I cursed under my breath as I jumped over the dead body and reached one of them. I managed to make a cut in his arm, forcing him to drop the gun but the other rushed at me, sending me crashing against the wall while I dropped my sword.
From the open door, I could see Namjoon and Hoseok fighting against some other men. The momentarily distraction caused me as I felt a punch connect to my face and another to my stomach. He grabbed me from my hair and slammed my face against the mirror.
The glass broke and I felt it scratch against my skin. I groaned a bit as I heard Myung scream at the man to let her go. I could hear Logan crying and it was like a fire lit up in me.
I used my elbow and smashed it against the man’s nose. He cried out as his hand flew to his nose which was bleeding. I used the time to go around him and wrap my arm around his neck. I twisted it and I heard the bone break as he crumbled to the ground.
I grabbed my sword from the floor and rushed at the man who was trying to take Logan from Myung’s arm. ‘NO! LEAVE MY SON!’ I heard her scream just as I drove the sword in the man’s back so hard that it came out of his chest. I felt him stiffen as he let go of Logan.
I pulled the bloody sword out and he turned around slowly as blood poured from his mouth. He stared at me with wide eyes full of hate. He went to raise his gun at me but he fell to the ground before he could do anything.
I turned to Myung and hurried to her. ‘Are you both okay?’ I asked panicked.
‘Ye—LOOK OUT!’ She screamed suddenly as I turned around just as a woman drove her knife into my shoulder, forcing me to drop my sword once more.
‘CHERRY!!’ Myung screamed as I stumbled backwards, almost losing my footing.
‘Ahh,’ I cried out while she pushed me against the wall once more. She smirked as she pulled out the knife and the blood poured out.
She approached me and pointed her knife to my chest. ‘I thought you were supposed to be good, Umbra,’ she said.
‘Who are you?’ I asked as I looked at her. She removed the mask from her face and I smirked. ‘Ahh Rosa’s little training pup,’ I said.
‘Well, this training pup is going to end you,’ she said as she slowly pushed her knife into my chest. From behind her I saw Hoseok aiming his gun at her.
‘You shouldn’t waste time bluffing and gloating pup,’ I said just as a shot echoed. Her eyes went wide before she crumpled to the ground.
My hand went to my chest as a slow but steady stream of blood was coming out. Namjoon and Hoseok both rushed into the room as Hoseok came next to me.
‘Are you—* you’re not okay,’ he said as he went to the sheet and tore a part of it. He brought it to my shoulder and looked at me.
‘I’ll be fine. Myung and Logan?’ I asked as I turned to look at them. Namjoon was next to them, holding them in his arms before he turned to look at me.
‘They’re okay, thanks to you,’ he said as he smiled at me. I noticed the bruise on his face and the cut on his arm.
I turned to look at Hoseok who is bleeding from his lip and a cut on his chest as well. ‘What happened?’ I asked and Hoseok sighed.
‘Not sure. They came as if out of nowhere. We probably ought to take Myung and Logan back to the house. It’s safer there,’ Hoseok suggested.
‘I agree. Hoseok help Cherry back home and call Taehyung to come take care of this mess,’ Namjoon said. Hoseok nodded as he wrapped his arm around my waist and helped me to move.
‘Hey Hobi?’ I asked as we walked silently towards the elevator. He pressed the button and turned to look at me. ‘Thanks for saving my life back there,’ I said.
‘I’ll always have your back Cherry,’ he said with a promising smile.
A rather short chapter, I know but it's full of action. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. They were right about it being a decoy but they were rather prepared. They gave a good fight even if they did get a little bit hurt. We even saw Hoseok protecting Cherry here. I look forward for your comments. - Tae's Misfit.
